Pizza Quesadillas
Pizza Quesadillas might not be the most authentic Italian dish, but they are so delicious just the same! Pizza Quesadillas are also so quick and easy to make for a fast and easy dinner idea the whole family will love. No need to make an extensive grocery list for this recipe because you probably already have ingredients in your pantry and fridge to throw some delicious Pizza Quesadillas together.
For the Pizza Quesadillas in the featured picture, we used baby spinach, garlic cloves, black olives, red and green bell peppers, red onions, sliced cherry tomatoes, sliced jalapeños, and mozzarella (regular dairy varieties and plant-based cheese varieties both work great). We also used whole wheat tortillas, but any type of tortillas will work, including gluten-free tortillas. Oh, and the star of the show? How could we forget that we used Journey Spice Co.’s Organic Pizza Seasoning?
Tips for Making the Best Pizza Quesadillas:
This isn’t one of our typical recipe posts because there are so many different ingredients to use, but we thought we could give you some valuable tips.
- Cook all ingredients at appropriate times and temperatures before assembling the quesadillas because the ingredients will not cook sufficiently just during the frying process. You do not want hard onions or raw meat in a quesadilla!
- On the last note, keep in mind the variation in cooking times between ingredients. For example, while you might boil red and green bell peppers and onions for around 10 minutes to soften, ingredients like baby spinach and sliced tomatoes only take a few minutes. Also, when it comes to meats, you want to ensure you cook at the necessary temperatures and times to avoid salmonella and other risks.
- When using delicious seasonings like Journey Spice Co.’s Organic Pizza Seasoning, you should add the seasoning to the other ingredients on the stove about five minutes before you are finished cooking. This gives the seasonings time to “bloom.”
- You should be generous when applying seasonings in recipes. We often see recipes that call for only a teaspoon of seasoning for a recipe that serves four or more people, and we can only assume that it is a fairly bland recipe! Instead, we will often use around 1/2 a tablespoon of seasoning or more per serving in a recipe.
- We prefer using extra virgin olive oil cooking spray to fry things like quesadillas because it is healthier than other types of cooking oils.
- Cook the quesadillas over low-medium heat to sufficiently melt the cheese and give the quesadillas a light, crunchy texture.
