Italian Meatball Sliders

These Italian Meatball Sliders make a hearty and delicious snack! You can also easily swap out the slider buns for a hoagie roll to make a comforting meatball sandwich for dinner. We made these sliders with our Organic Pizza Seasoning, but our Organic Tuscan Seasoning or Organic Sicilian Seasoning would be delicious in this recipe too!

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook/Bake Time: 20-25 minutes

Ingredients:

1 1/2 Tbsp. Journey Spice Co. Organic Pizza Seasoning

1 lb. ground beef, ground sausage, ground turkey, or ground plant-based “meat”

1/4 cup breadcrumbs

1 large egg, store-bought plant-based “egg’, or chia “egg” if using plant-based ingredients.

1 1/2 cups marinara sauce

4 slices of mozzarella cheese or 1 1/2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese. Plant-based cheese works great for this recipe, too.

10 slider buns

Extra virgin olive oil spray or other cooking spray

Optional: 1/4 cup parmesan cheese

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Add the Journey Spice Co. Organic Pizza Seasoning, breadcrumbs, meat, egg, and parmesan cheese, if using, to a medium bowl and combine with your hands until well-mixed.
  3. Form the mixture into 10 meatballs.
  4. Spray a non-stick skillet with cooking spray, turn your stove on low heat, and add the meatballs.
  5. Cook the meatballs for 15-20 minutes, turning them several times to cook them evenly. Cover the pan with a lid to help the meatballs cook evenly. Note that cooking times will vary depending upon the meat used—ground turkey will require longer cooking times, while plant-based alternatives may require less.
  6. Add the marinara sauce and evenly stir on the meatballs. Turn your stove off.
  7. Place the meatballs on 10 slider buns, place half a piece of cheese or evenly disperse the shredded cheese on each slider, place the slider top on, and bake in the oven for about 5 minutes to melt the cheese.
  8. We recommend enjoying it immediately because the marinara will make the sliders soggy if you wait too long to eat them.
